About our founder

dr. lavon wright bracy

Dr. LaVon Wright Bracy is a distinguished advocate for civil rights and education. She became the first African American to graduate from Gainesville High School in 1965, a significant milestone in her journey towards equality and justice. Born to Reverend Thomas A. Wright and Affie Mae Wright, both community activists, LaVon was deeply influenced by her parents' commitment to civil rights.

She continued her education at Fisk University, earning a degree in Psychology, and furthered her studies at the University of Miami and the University of Florida, where she earned her Master's and Doctorate degrees respectively. Dr. Bracy's career includes influential roles in academia and public service, and she co-founded the New Covenant Baptist Church in Orlando. Her books, including "A Brave Little Cookie," inspire and educate about the struggles and triumphs of the civil rights movement.

Today she continues to serve her Florida community through the philanthropic efforts of her newly formed non-profit organization, Wright the Vision Inc.
